36 States In Nigeria And Their Governors For 2019

I will be supplying you the answer to who the 36 states in Nigeria and their governors are.

In addition, you’ll discover what political parties they got elected into power.

And don’t forget that there is the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) so as a bonus I will be including the name of the present minister of the FCT.

You will find in the list that some Governors were not sworn-in the same time as others. Let me explain that: normally, Nigeria’s general elections are conducted every 4 years – I’m sure it’s the same as other countries practising democracy.

However, due to some issues – the common one being election petitions at tribunals – some elections are now staggered.

So don’t get confused when you see the difference in dates.

In any case, I have been able to list the 36 states in Nigeria and their governors along with the year they were sworn into office.

Note that some of them are on their second tenure, so the date you’ll find is that of their first coming. Only fresh Governors have 2019 as their date.

Like I promised from the beginning, the present FCT minister is Mohammed Bello.

All the states are predominantly All Progressive Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) except Anambra state where it is All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

Summarily, there are PDP has 11 Governors, APC has 24 and 1 from APGA.

Most APC Governors are from the Northern and Western regions while PDP are mostly from the Eastern and Southern regions of Nigeria.
